Would I Lie To You
Would I Lie To You
Would I Lie To You on BBC One is an entertaining celebrity panel game that tests the ability of the guests to lie. Hosted by Rob Brydon, two teams each captained by David Mitchell and Lee Mack are joined each week by four guests from the world of entertainment. The team members must read out prepared statements about their own lives and the opposing panel must guess whether he or she is telling the truth or not.
Some of the statements seem ridiculous and the stories embarrassing but the skill of the player is in trying to come up with some quick-witted explanations or to hint at the possibility he or she is lying.
According to the premise of the show, none of the team members have seen the statements before. Some will be incidents from their own lives. Others will be lies.
Teams win points for a correct guess as to whether a story is true or a lie. The final score is fairly unimportant. The show is quick fire and entertaining with some genuinely funny stories that often turn out to be true. Rob Brydon presides with his usual flair and Lee Mack and David Mitchell banter amongst themselves and their celebrity guests. Bill Turnbull, Miranda Hart and Greg Davies are just a few of the famous people who have appeared on Would I Lie To you.
Would I lie to you was first shown on BBC One in 2007 and was hosted originally by Angus Deayton. He was replaced by Rob Brydon in 2009 and so far the show has run to seven series.
