Undercover Boss on Channel 4 is a documentary series that follows company owners and senior executives going undercover in their own companies in order to see what goes on behind the scenes.  The idea is that the company bosses will get an insight into the workings of their own business from the ground up. It can make for compelling viewing.  The undercover bosses generally spend two weeks in their roles and get to know the people they work with , face predicaments sometimes with amusing results and learn a lot about the business.

The cameras are openly filming, in many cases under the fictitious excuse of a non-related documentary topic.
After the time is up and the bosses return to the boardroom, good employees are rewarded sometimes with a bonus or a promotion and in some cases, staff members are sacked.

This UK Channel 4 programme goes undercover in some of Britain’s most well known companies. Previous episodes have included Harry Ramsdens, N Power, Poundland and the Jockey Club.
Undercover Boss is a TV Franchise and the show has regional variations throughout the world including the USA, Australia and across Europe. This ground breaking Channel 4 show was devised by TV producer Stephen Lambert and first aired in 2009.
