If you have ever wondered about the secrets that may be hiding under the ground and the history that could be waiting to be discovered, Time Team on Channel 4 will be right up your street. This popular British archaeology programme follows the progress of a team of specialist archaeologists as they dig an area over three days an attempt to unravel its history.
Presented by actor Tony Robinson, the time team excavate sites of special interest and in many cases sites that have been suggested by viewers – sometimes the landowner of the property or an amateur historian who has a theory about the possible ancient use of the site.
Time Team excavations have been carried out on a wide range of historical sites and have featured everything from WW2 events right back to the times of prehistory. Some excavations have revealed nationally important historical sites including Roman villas and Bronze Age settlements.
