The Sweeney is a TV cop-show which concentrates on the Flying Squad who follow up aggresive crimes in London. The show is so popular is has also been turned into feature length films Sweeney and Sweeney 2 and revamp The Sweeney was released in 2012. The iconic seventies show is said to have been one of the inspirations behind Sci-fi cop show ‘Life on Mars’ starring John Simm.

Currently being shown on ITV the Sweeney features John Thaw as Detective Inspector Jack Regan and Dennis Waterman as Detective Sergeant George Carter. Regan was driven around in a Ford Consul GT which has now received cult status. Check it out via Youriplayer.co.uk
