The Jeremy Kyle Show
The Jeremy Kyle Show
The Jeremy Kyle Show is a British talk show produced by Granada Television and broadcast on ITV from Monday to Friday.
Presented by Jeremy Kyle, the programme often features guests who have been brought on to the show by concerned family and friends in order to address any causes of conflict affecting the parties involved.
The Jeremy Kyle Show deals with real life issues such as alcoholism, paternity suites and familial conflict.
Confrontations among its guests frequently occur and are mediated by the host of the show. DNA and lie detector tests are often employed in order to resolve the issues raised during the programme.
Continued support and counselling are also provided to participants where required in a programme managed and overseen by Graham Stanier, the show’s psychotherapist and director of aftercare.
Fights and physical altercations have been known to break out among participants on the show resulting in its being accused of perpetuating stereotypes and exploiting the vulnerable.
There have also been claims by former staff of the show alleging that friction among guests of the show was encouraged and also allegations of an alcoholic guest being offered beer by the production team, shortly before appearing on the programme.
ITV has denied these claims, vigorously asserting that the show has played a positive role in the lives of several of its participants through its support programme.
