The Great Interior Design Challenge on BBC 2 is a search for Britain's best amateur interior designers. Twenty four amateur designers work on thirty eight rooms and with a dash of luck and style they try to impress the ever wary style judges in this interior design talent competition.

In The Great Interior Design Challenge, the design hopefuls are given a brief and with swatches and space saving ideas in mind they set to work on transforming a living space. The results are somewhat varied according to your taste but they give you an insight into the practical “how to's” of interior design; for example wall paper hanging tips and colour ideas. In each show the design contestants are given a real brief from the residents of the dwelling that explains the hopes and dreams for their future rooms.
This is not always easy and the clients can be very demanding, so it is up to the designers to create the compromises that will win the day. tby47tvt The designers then begin the Design Challenge and this consists of a thousand pound budget and forty eight hours.
The Great Interior Design Challenge on BBC 2 is about balancing the clients’ wishes whilst still using design ideas that will impress the style judges Sophie and Daniel who will pick the winning design. The show is aided by the hand of Tom Dyckhoff an architectural historian who gives background to some of the buildings and the original design practises used when they were built.
