The Andrew Marr Show on BBC One is broadcast every Sunday morning at 9am and is a part of many people’s weekend routine. This political show with a laid-back Sunday flavour, features senior politicians and current stories in the news and is an intelligent and entertaining look at the current political scene.
Expect guests such as David Cameron and other major political figures in the news. This show reaches a very wide audience so attracts the politicians, movers, and shakers who are actually making the news!
The Andrew Marr show guests often have to face a very challenging interview with no holds barred style questions. There have been complaints made about Andrew Marr’s robust interview style, including criticism from Gordon Brown’s office for remarks made while he was prime minister.
Each episode Andrew Marr is also joined by two guest from the world of journalism politics or entertainment for a lighthearted look through the Sunday papers. In addition, there is always a live musical performance by a band or artist currently popular or on tour in the UK and willing to perform at an early hour!
The show was first broadcast in 2005 under the name Sunday AM, changing to the Andrew Marr show in 2007. Sadly, Andrew Marr himself, suffered a stroke in 2013 during which time his position was taken by guests presenters including Jeremy Vine Eddie Mair and Sophie Raworth. He did appear on the show during this time as guest but according to BBC One, his return has been postponed until he makes a full recovery.
