That Puppet Game Show
That Puppet Game Show on BBC One is a new Saturday Night family show that first aired in August 2013 and features puppets, crazy challenges and celebrity guests trying to raise money for charity. Each week two celebrities compete to win £10,000 for their chosen charity by completing challenges set by the puppets. Each game is overseen by a puppet expert and adjudicator and is based loosely around sports, science, celebrity, mental agility and nature and all are suitably silly.
Games have included Punch Your Lights Out where the 2 contestants have to race to punch out lights stuck to their bodies, Dart Attack where one celebrity has to fire darts from a blowpipe at his or her opponent strapped to a spinning wheel and Cheek to Cheek that sees the celebs slow dancing together and trying to guess the tune. Each episode culminates in the Puppet End Game where the celebrities have to answer a quick fire round of questions asked by the puppet experts.
Guests on the Puppet Game Show have included some odd pairings across the world of celebrity. Jonathon Ross and classical Singer Katherine Jenkins competed in the first episode with further shows featuring Shane Ritchie v Claudia Winkelman, Jack Dee v Alex Jones from the One Show and Vernon Kaye v Mel Giedroyc.
The puppets are created by Jim Henson and include some puppet characters that have featured on other Jim Henson productions although the well known puppets such as Kermit and Miss Piggy from the original Muppet show sadly do not make an appearance on the show.
