Scrapheap Challenge
Scrapheap Challenge
Britain is a nation of engineers and inventors and the Scrapheap Challenge on Channel 4 is a competition that sees teams build machines out of what can be found lying around in a scrapyard in order to complete a specific task. If you like the concept of the mad inventor combined with some great engineering skills and British pluck you will love this show. Watch Scrapheap Challenge via youriplayer.co.uk and get some inspiration on how to turn scrap into machines!
Scrapheap Challenge usually features three four-man teams who compete to build a machine in a limited timeframe from what is available in the scrap yard. Previous challenges have included making a jet car, an amphibious machine, and a giant skateboard. At the end of the show, the teams race their vehicles to see who wins.
Scrapheap Challenge was first aired on Channel 4 in 1998 and went on to run for ten years until 2008. The idea of the show was sold to the USA where it is known as Junkyard Wars. It is due for a comeback but until then viewers will have to be content with watching the 10 series already completed.
