Documentary series that follows the job of the emergency services as they carry out dramatic real life rescues across England. As well as the Police, ambulance and fire service, the air ambulance, coast guard and lifeboat service are all called into action to rescue people from life threatening situations.
Previous real rescues have included a hot air balloon crash, a fire in a flat where the occupants are asleep, road traffic accidents, women going into labour in odd places , boating accidents and similar.
Real Rescues shows how all the strands of the emergency services work together and includes the real life 999 phone calls, interviews with the people who answer them and meets the people involved in the rescues.
Real Rescues on BBC One was first broadcast in 2007 and the first series was presented by Nick Knowles and followed the emergency services of Hampshire. Subsequent series have changed the format and now feature the emergency services of other areas across the UK as well as Hampshire and is presented by Chris Hollins and Louise Minchin.
