Prank Patrol
Prank Patrol
Lots of children like practical jokes and playing pranks on friends and Prank Patrol on CCBC is all about enabling children to set up elaborate hoaxes on their friends. Children’s presenter Barney Harwood with the aid of a team of “prank “ ninjas helps a new contestant each week to play a prank on a friend or family member.
Previous pranks have included “spy dad” where Barney and the ninjas convince the target that Dad is a secret agent, “wacky wedding” where the target turns up in bridesmaid dress at a stranger’s wedding and “calamity cop shop” where the target is framed for a crime he didn’t commit.
Prank Patrol has been extremely popular with CBBC audiences but not all feedback has been positive. Some viewers have questioned the idea of playing pranks on often quite young children and in some cases, the pranks have led to tears and obvious distress before the situation is revealed as a prank.
Following the much publicised incident in the news where a prank phone call made by Australian DJs resulted in the suicide of a nurse, the BBC has reviewed its policy around pranks of all kinds. As a result, CBBC will not be making any further series of Prank Patrol.
Despite this, Prank Patrol was a much loved programme and ran for three series between 2007 and 2010. If you or your children like practical jokes, you will love it. You can catch up with all episodes of Prank Patrol via youriplayer.co.uk
