Pointless is a daily game show broadcast throughout the week on BBC One. It is hosted by comedian Alexander Armstrong assisted by Richard Osman and is a quiz show with a difference.
Pointless Celebrities follows the same format as the daily show but is played by teams of celebrities instead of members of the general public

The aim of Pointless is to score the least amount of points – preferably zero in order to win. Four groups of Contestants play in teams of two and attempt to find the correct answer to questions as well as the answer that is the most unusual in an attempt to score the least amount of points.
All the questions have been researched by asking 100 members of the public the same question and the aim of the game is to find the most obscure correct answer, ideally one that the survey group have not provided. The team with the lowest amount of points proceed through the game and the final round sees them attempt to find a “pointless answer” and scoop the jackpot. Failure to do this sees the prize pot increase each week. Pointless Celebrity winners donate their cash winnings to charity/

A typical example of a pointless question would be to name the films made by a famous actor. Most of the 100 people asked will say the actor’s most famous films but if the contestant provides an answer that, nobody else has thought of, perhaps an obscure or unpopular film, this will be a pointless score. The number of points that the team will score will depend on how many other people though of the same answer in the survey group.
Pointless Celebrities on BBC One is the celebrity version of the same game that sees contestants playing for charity and often have a theme to the programmes, such as soap stars, sports stars or the cast of a popular TV programme. There was a pointless celebrities Doctor Who special for example.
