Peter and Dan Snow
Pete and Dan Snow: 20th Century Battlefields on BBC Four looks at some of the major conflicts of the last century from World War One in 1918 right up to the Gulf War in 1991. Peter and Dan Snow are a father and son team of presenters and they visit the old battlefield and explain the techniques of warfare used as well as providing an overview of strategy via CGI effects.
Peter and Dan Snow: 20th Century Battlefields on BBC Four offers an in depth view of the major conflicts of the 20th century. Theatres of War include Korea in 1951, Vietnam in 1968, the Yom Kippur War in 1973 as well as the better-known battles of WW1 and WW2.
If you are interested in archaeology, military history and strategy, you will love this programme. Pete and Dan Snow are authoritative presenters – and spookily similar in appearance and delivery, and they obviously know their stuff!
Each episode sees the presenters trying out a military exercise related to the conflict. In view of Peter Snow’s advancing years, this task usually falls to Dan and he has been taught by the British Army snipers – a task related to the battle of Stalingrad in 1942, learned how to operate an anti tank missile for the Yom Kippur episode, and has practiced night fighting with the British army for the episode about the Falklands.
