The Octonauts is an animated children’s series which focuses on the adventures of a team of underwater explorers.
It is broadcast by the BBC and is aired on CBeebies. Previous episodes   can also be watched viaYouriplayer.co.uk. an online service which also provides reruns of popular CBeebies programmes.

Based on the books written by Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy, The Octonauts features a team of eight adventurers lead by Captain Barnacles Bear, Lieutenant Kwazii Cat, and Medic Peso Penguin.
They operate from their underwater base, the Octopod from which they launch rescue missions to save aquatic life forms and explore the mysteries of the ocean using a fleet of specially designed aquatic vehicles.
 
In keeping with the channel’s remit to educate and entertain, the purpose of the show is to educate viewers about the world around them and the importance of building relationships and working together.
