One of Australia’s most popular entertainment exports to the UK, Neighbours is a long running soap opera focusing on the residents of Ramsay Street in the borough of Eringsborough.
Produced by Fremantle Media it is aired in the UK on Channel 5 and on 5*.
Neighbours features the families and individuals which form a close knit community on Ramsay Street, focusing on their personal and professional lives as well as their relationships with each other.

Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne): Kind, nurturing and maternal in nature, Susan is a retired principal who is looked up to as a mother figure in the neighbourhood. Humorous and resilient, she has experienced her fair share of challenges and overcome them all. c038tv She is currently married to Karl Kennedy from whom she was previously separated.
Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher): Husband to Susan Kennedy, Karl is a respected figure in the community both in his professional capacity as a medical doctor and as a much loved father figure. Having experienced periods of turmoil in his personal life, he is currently seeking to rebuild a new life with his wife from whom he was previously estranged, in a second attempt at happiness.
Lou Carpenter (Tom Oliver): Straight talking and always ready with a clever remark, Lou is considered one of the pillars of the community. Optimistic in nature, he is also known for his single minded approach which has stood him in good stead in his business and personal relationships.
First aired in 1985, Neighbours is one of Australia’s most popular entertainment exports and has been sold to 50 countries worldwide.
The show has actually met with more success in the UK than it has in its home country of Australia, attracting an average of 3 million viewers in the former per episode as opposed to approximately half a million viewers in the latter.
One of its best loved figures is Lou Carpenter whose initial departure gave rise to an overwhelming number of protests from fans at home and abroad, compelling producers and writers to return him to the show.
