Mr Drew's School for Boys on Channel 4 is a reality show where real life teacher Mr Drew takes on a challenge to help eleven difficult pupils by enrolling them in a residential summer school. The twist is that the parents have to attend as well.
This is because of Mr Drew’s belief that many behavioural problems start at home. Both parents and children are enrolled in a residential summer school like no other in a bid to unlock their true potential before it's too late.c038tv
Boys aged 12 and under are now almost six times more likely than girls to be kicked
out of school, while 90% of young offenders were previously excluded from school so it seems that failure at school is the root of many social problems. Mr Drew's School for Boys on Channel 4.
Inspirational head teacher Stephen Drew, previously seen on the Educating Essex TV
series wants to help some of these boys whose behaviour is already threatening their future.
The 11 children aged between 10 and 12 are educated by Mr Drew’s somewhat patient style that he adopts to educate the parents in a similar manner. No easy task as the obvious embarrassment of being shamed in front of others about your little darlings’ behaviour would not be an easy pill for a lot of people to swallow. However, Mr Drew’s style and patience will eventually tire everyone into submission
One scene shows this well, “Gentlemen, isn’t the weather lovely?” Mr Drew says
breezily, and following a succession of failed attempts to provoke the teacher Max, a
pupil relents, “Fine, I’ll go back to the bloody lesson!” “Thank you, Max,” says Drew
calmly.
Education is a privilege that needs people like Mr Drew to make clear to all
