Like it or not, you are in some way related to a monkey! .The Human race belong to the Primate family a huge group of species with shared characteristics that live all over Planet Earth. From lemurs to marmosets and from the smallest monkeys to the largest apes we are all related and Monkey Planet on BBC 1 is a close up look about our past and how we got here!
Monkey Planet on BBC 1 is a three part series presented by zoologist Dr George McGavin who takes us on a tour around the world and hopes to explain to us what it is that makes primates so special. Monkey Planet follows Dr George McGavin as he visits some remarkable members of this family and uncovers the secrets of the primate family’s enormous success.
The Primates ability to adapt and survive seems to be the key reason of our long continuation and we are taken on a journey to watch some extraordinary physical adaptations, some clever survival tricks and amazing family lives that really can hold a mirror up to our own.
With over 540 species from 16 very different families, we journey from the cold snowy mountains of Japan to the harsh windy heat of the Savannah where we see the amazing abilities of these animals to survive in the most extreme conditions.
