Live At The Apollo began the first series in 2004 and has run to 8 seasons so far. It is one of the few comedy shows currently on TV that offer a showcase to comedians to perform in the stand up environment. Although many of the guests are familiar to viewers because of game show appearances such as Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo offers a chance to see comedians performing in the live medium of a stand up show. The audience at the Apollo is often made up of celebrities and sport stars – especially since the 2012 Olympics, and these are often engaged with by the onstage comedians to comic effect.
