Jungle Run
Jungle Run
Jungle Run on ITV is a children’s game show that sees a team of young contestants hunt for lost treasure in a jungle setting (although the show is actually filmed near Nottingham.) The team members have to locate golden monkey statuettes hidden in the jungle setting and work their through an obstacle course of jungle related challenges, such as waterfalls and hanging bridges. The children are helped by two monkey puppets called Sid and Elvis and likeable presenter Michael Underwood hosts the show and comments on proceedings.

Jungle Run on ITV has been accused of being a direct copy of the long running Crystal Maze and the format is much the same despite the different setting. The children have to display their skills of ingenuity and the dramatic jungle backdrop gives the show an interesting flavour and depth. The sets include a Dark Swamp, a Lost Cave, and the Temple of the Jungle King.
At the end of each show, the contestants must enter the temple of the jungle king and search the many rooms for monkey idols and ultimately the Golden Monkey in order to win prizes.
Jungle Run was first broadcast in 1999 and has run to eight series. The show was originally presented by Dominic Wood who then made way for Chris Jarvis in 2001. Michael Underwood took over the series in 2003. The last series was filmed in 2006 but the show is showing again on ITV.
