I Can Cook
I Can Cook is a CBeebies show that teaches pre school children how to cook! Katy Ashworth the presenter cooks simple and delicious recipes assisted by some young helpers and gives young children the idea that cooking is fun and that they can do it!
Aimed at the 5 to 6 age group, I Can Cook helps children develop independence.
The I Can Cook recipes are simple and appealing and include child friendly dishes such as baked bean soup, deserts made from fresh fruit and pizzas made from fresh ingredients.
As well as the cookery fun, Katy shows the young viewer where the food actually comes from. In many episodes, she shows the food included in the recipe being grown or cultivated. For example when making an apple based recipe, she visits an apple orchard.
All the recipes can be easily recreated in the home with your own children by following Katy‘s instructions and recipe details.
I Can Cook encourages children to help with food preparation and cooking and teaches core skills such as grating, mixing and general food preparation. With obesity a rising problem and many people so dependent on packaged meals, I Can cook is the first step to acquiring this vital life skill. Being able to cook healthy meals as well as tasty treats is an important part of your child’s development and future wellbeing.
