Home to Roost
Home to Roost
Home to Roost is a vintage ITV comedy that ran for 1985 until 1990. It followed the life of divorced man Henry, played by John Thaw who is perfectly happily living on his own until he is joined by his son Matthew. The comedy revolves around the theme of two men living together, Henry’s annoyance at having his peace disturbed and the generational age difference. The female cleaner provides some of the most comedic moments because of course the men cannot do anything for themselves!
Despite the age of this comedy series, Home to Roost is enjoyable. The actors John Thaw and Reece Dinsdale as Matthew are worth watching and turn in some good performances. The role of the cleaner, Enid in the first few series is played by Elizabeth Bennet. Later she was replaced by Fiona played by Joan Blackham.
Home To Roost ran for four seasons before finally ending in 1990 and is being shown again on ITV. As well as the comedy, this show is interesting because of the nostalgic appeal of the setting. You can watch Home to Roost again via youriplayer.co.uk and catch up on some classic 80s comedy.
