Hero Squad
Hero Squad
Hero Squad is a children’s programme on CBBC that gives children the chance to train with the emergency services and carry out a rescue themselves! Viewers will be pleased to learn that the rescue is staged and it gives the children a chance to shine as heroes without endangering anybody’s life!
This exciting action series sees six children aged between 12 and 14 undergo training over the course of the episodes. The camera follows their progress as they get to grips with the rigours of the job helped by a guest mentor to help them on their way.
All the rescue organisations are included in the show and feature HM Coastguard, RAF Search and Rescue, The Fire Service and the RNLI (Lifeboats) and Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
Once the training is over, the children elect a squad leader and then carry out the rescue themselves. The children use all the technology and methods, used by the real emergency services team and at the end of the show, the mentor comments on their skills and progress.
Hero Squad is presented by Rav Wilding a one-time police officer and security guard turned TV presenter. The show was first broadcast in 2012 and so far has run to two seasons.
