Great British Railway Journeys
Great British Railway Journeys
In BBC Two’s Great British Railway Journeys, Michael Portillo covers the whole of the United Kingdom by railway. Former Conservative Party Politician and Cabinet Minister Michael Portillo is taken through his Great British Railway Journeys by a Victorian guidebook written by George Bradshaw which he uses to consider how arrival points have altered between the present day and the Victorian era.
The most recent series of Great British Railway Journeys features a sequence of five journeys, with the first four travelling across Great Britain and the fifth being in Ireland, beginning with High Wycombe to Aberystwyth. In the Killarney to Galway episodes, Michael makes many discoveries such as the art of butter making and historic jewellery.
