Dancing on Ice
Dancing on Ice on ITV is a celebrity talent show that sees celebrities learning how to ice skate in order to perform dance routines on ice accompanied by professional skaters. The format is very similar to the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing but with the added dimension of ice skating!
Dancing On Ice on ITV is a lavish spectacle with frocks, sequins and music plus each celebrity’s “journey “of training, triumphs and failure. There is a lot to learn for the celebrities and the cameras are with them all the way. There are numerous ice skating moves that must be incorporated into the dance routine and the celebrities must display their ice skating proficiency as well as their feel for the music and dance routine.
Each show sees each couple perform an ice dance, which is then judged by ice skating professionals and entertainers, known as the Ice Panel who award them scores. . There is also the all-important viewers vote to knock out one of the lower scoring contestants. As with all these type of competitions, sometimes the worst skaters get to stay in the show if they are popular enough with the viewing public.
Dancing on Ice on ITV is hosted by Philip Schofield and Christine Bleakley accompanied by professional skating couple Torville and Dean.
