Dad's Army
Dad's Army
Don’t tell him Pike! Dad’s Army is probably the best known and most loved television sitcom of all time and is currently showing on BBC Two much to the delight of the viewing public. This classic WW2 comedy is one of those unique programmes that are still funny despite being first broadcast in the 1970s.
Books have been written about Dads Army in an attempt to explain its long lasting appeal but a combination of perfect casting, strong comedic performances and its historic setting have all helped to maintain its popularity with all ages.
Dads Army has aged better than most other comedies from the 70s and this has been attributed to its setting. When the series was made in the 1970s, the War was already 30 years over. Most of the cast had been involved in the war and this series is a snapshot of an earlier time which doesn’t date because it was already old when first released.

Corporal Jones Captain Mainwaring and posh Sergeant Wilson are just a few of the characters who work together to bring a heart warming and funny experience to the viewer.
Dads Army is just so comforting. In the event of a national disaster, the BBC will probably run episodes of Dad’s Army to calm us all down and make us remember what was supposed to be so great about Britain!
