Britain has a wide and varied national heritage that may be in danger of dying out with the advent of modern life. In Britain’s Heritage Heroes on BBC Two, presenters John Craven and Jules Hudson travel around the country meeting people who are dedicated to preserving tradition and heritage.

Previous episodes of Britain’s Heritage Heroes have included visiting farmers restoring ancient hay meadows, volunteers maintaining the Lancaster canal, a visit to the last oak tannery in Britain and similar crafts and lifestyles under threat. Britain has a rich history and it is surprising how diverse it is, sometimes within such short distances.
Britain’s Heritage Heroes can come from all walks of life and the series covers the length and breadth of the British Isles. John Craven is a well respected TV presenter who almost comes into the category of “national treasure”. He is best known for his 70s children’s show John Craven’s Newsround and as a long running presenter of Country File.
Jules Hudson is also well known as a Country File presenter and these two presenters specialise in programmes dealing with the great outdoors. In Britain’s Heritage Heroes, predominately rural crafts and historic landscapes are explored and there are some genuinely interesting people to meet along the way.
