Britain’s Great War on BBC 1 is a four-part landmark history series about how the First World War affected the lives of the British people who took part in it and how its influence created the Britain we know today.
2014 marks the one hundred year anniversary of the start of World War One – a conflict with a cataclysmic effect on the landscape and life of Europe. Jeremy Paxman minus his much-publicised beard, narrates the story from its early stages when Britain was genuinely fearful of invasion and the threat of “under the bed” spies became the cause of much public paranoia.
