Britain on Film
Britain on Film
Britain on Film is a fascinating BBC Four documentary series that uses original film clips from the 1960s onwards to explore different themes. Previous titles have included “Kids Today” that looks at the way childhood was transformed by educational changes in the decade, “The World Of Work” that examines workers’ conditions and the economy. and “Road, Rail And Runways” the changing face of British transport and leisure as people took to flying abroad for holidays and owning their own cars in this decade.
Britain on Film is an interesting and often nostalgic look at the past. The themes provide the framework for each episode and the film offers us a glimpse into a lost world. People of a certain age will enjoy remembering the fashions and attitudes of this era and for younger viewers it is interesting to see that not everything about the sixties was swinging! BBC Four brings the sixties to life in the way that it really was and not how it is remembered in TV drama!
