Bottom Knocker Street on ITV is a children’s comedy series billed as surreal fun in a comic book style.  It follows the adventures of four children, Lulu, Billy, Dinga and Bo who live in Bottom Knocker Street and are trying to turn a patch of wasteland into a city farm in Lower Mintworth the town where they live. Evil Councillor Cowdrey who is played by Phil Jupitus tries to stop them because being evil, he hates animals! Expect plenty of bizarre and surreal storylines including runaway hippos, time travel and dairy powered ghosts all served with wacky humour and plenty of jokes and songs. The action is filmed in a mix of animation and live action that is similar in style to comics the Beano and Dandy and this unique series is quirky, British and inventive. Bottom Knocker Street is aimed at the 6 to 12 age group but will appeal to a wider audience. Phil Jupitus delivers a great comedy performance in his evil role, the children are appealing and it’s all very silly and surreal. The blend of animation and live action makes for some seemingly impossible storylines that will delight and amuse viewers of all ages. If you fancy living on a street where even the post boxes have an opinion then you will enjoy this show. 

 

Bottom Knocker Street on ITV first hit the screen in August 2013 and has been well received by critics. Fun, surreal and totally original this new series runs over 52 episodes and includes prime time viewing over Christmas.
