Big and Small on CBeebies is an awarded winning children’s comedy series aimed at toddlers and pre-school children. It follows the exploits of strange looking puppet creatures, similar in appearance to the Muppets, who live together in a house and do ordinary things like play games, and make things. In most cases, things go wrong and there is always at least one song to join in with along the way, until the situation or disagreement is resolved.

Big and Small is a very appealing programme that has delighted both its young audience and the critics. Big is a big purple laid-back creature with pink spots on his back voiced by Lenny Henry, and Small, also voiced by Lenny Henry a small and energetic orange creature.
Big and Small are joined by Ruby a pink mouse with red hair played by Imelda Staunton. Ruby lives in a mouse hole in the house. In addition to the household, there is Twiba a worm who lives in an apple (an abbreviation of the worm in Big’s apple).

The series first aired on CBeebies in 2009 and has won awards over its three seasons run so far. It won Best Children’s Programme at the Royal Television society’s educational TV awards as well as a BAFTA for best interactive service in 2009. In 2013, Big and Small won the Kidscreen Best Writing award.
