Being Human
Being Human
Being Human on BBC Three is a supernatural drama which combines the horror of werewolves, a ghost and vampires with a flatshare comedy first set in Bristol. The main characters are all supernatural beings attempting to live a “normal” life and fit in with the ordinary people who surround them. In the first two series, the story was set in Bristol but in the third series, the gang move to Barry in South Wales and open a bed and breakfast business.
The series began with George a werewolf and Mitchell moving into a rented house inhabited by a ghost of a young woman called Anne who haunts the property. These supernatural beings attempt to live a normal life without killing anyone or drinking blood and suffer extreme remorse when they fail to keep within the parameters or ordinary human behaviour. In between supernatural events, the main characters work, go on dates and lead ordinary lives and at times, it seems like an ordinary flatshare comedy involving 20 somethings.
Along the way, they try to avoid the vampire community and the threat from the supernatural world as well as the risk of exposure by normal people.
Being Human first came on BBC Three in 2008 and so far has run to five series. It has been nominated for Bafta award for Best Drama Series in 2010 and 2011 and has narrowly missed out both times but it did win Best Drama Series in 2011 in the TV Choice awards.
