The Aquabats Super Show on ITV is an American action adventure sitcom aimed at the 6 to 12 year old age bracket and is all about a Californian rock band the Aquabats.  who have superhero powers.  These Rock superstars are not just musicians they are superheroes on a mission to fight evil and get justice for all those who need it. The band travel round America playing gigs and fighting evil in the Battletram. This is an RV, which is bigger inside than outside like the Tardis in Dr Who and contains a large living room science lab and a control centre.

The Aquabats are led by The MC Bat Commander the group’s singer played by actor Christian Jacobs and other band members comprise of bass player Crash MvLarson who has the superpower that enables him to grow over 100ft, Ricky Fitness the drummer who has the power of superspeed, Eagle Bones the guitarist whose guitar is a laser and who is helped by a spirit eagle called the Dude, and keyboard player Jimmy the Robot who is actually an android. The band are ultra Californian cool and there’s plenty of hey dude type of dialogue that adds to the fun.

The series has attracted a lot of positive media attention due to its originality, offbeat humour and campy tone. The Aquabats is filmed using a variety of techniques. Live action is interspersed with cartoon footage and the result is a fast-paced action packed comedy that the maker of the series Christian Jacobs who plays the MC Bat commander describes as similar to Batman and the shows from the 60s and 70s.
The Aquabats Super Show was first broadcast by American TV station the Hub in 2012 and has been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Children’s Series category.
