Animal Park
Animal Park
Animal Park is a BBC Two documentary series that looks at life in Longleat Estate and Safari park. It follows the life of the animals as well as the staff and the keepers and gives the viewer a fascinating glimpse into the running of a safari park and all the problems and events that unfold over the working day. The owner of the park, Lord Bath, often features and the show is engagingly presented by Ben Fogle and Kate Humble.
Animal Park first aired in 2000 and ran for nine seasons until 2009. This rather low-key BBC Two programme soon grew in popularity making stars out of some of the animals that the public took to their hearts. Popular animals included gorilla Nico and the late Kadu the tiger and you can expect some heart-warming moments as well as sometimes sad occasions – all in the daily life of the park. The combination of animal and human interest stories is appealing and makes for often compelling viewing.
Animal Park always remained on BBC Two so although the show was popular when first aired it has rarely made it across to a more popular channel and timeslot.
