Alan Carr is never going to be Jeremy Paxman and luckily for him he will never need to be! Alan Carr AKA the Chatty Man doesn’t need to bother with a straight and searching interview style. Instead, he simply plies his guests with drink and lets the good-natured chat, confessions and innuendo just roll out.
Alan Carr puts his guests at enough ease to chat and this is the show’s aim.No one ever seems to admit to watching Alan Carr; Chatty Man on Channel 4 but after 11 seasons, this series is still going strong and there is little sign that it will be leaving anytime in the near future.
The show’s success is probably helped by the way the guests are interviewed. With Alan’s easy nature plus a couple of bottles of booze liberally applied, the interviews can be revealing. Guests are interviewed by Alan in a confessional one to one, and theresults recorded so the show can be easily edited together in a mash up style which is both entertaining and very watchable.
