In A Place in the Sun: Home and Away Brits are given the choice to purchase property both in the United Kingdom and overseas. The Channel 4 lifestyle programme is presented by Jasmine Harman and Jonnie Irwin, and more recently Laura Hamilton of Dancing on Ice fame.

The typical format is a British couple being shown a few properties which are located by the researchers of A Place in the Sun: Home or Away.  At the end of the show and based on various relevant facts about the properties, the couples give their verdicts on the properties. Afterwards it is revealed whether or not they actually bought the properties or not.
