8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown
8 Out of 10 Cats does Countdown on Channel 4 is a panel show comedy hosted by Jimmy Carr where two teams have to analyse, think and joke about current statistics. Each week, the team captains, comedians Jon Richardson and Sean Lock, are joined by two celebrities to develop ideas in order to give statistics a real meaning. Often topical celebrities appear on the show, for example Ruth Badger following her appearance on The Apprentice.
The show is based on the statistics and opinion polls that are produced by a variety of organizations as well as new polls commissioned especially for the show.
Regular features include;
"What Are You Talking About?" - The polling organisation asked the public what they were talking about during the week. The teams have to try to guess the top three.
"Pick of the Polls" - The teams are given four pictures to pick from and are given a poll based around that picture.
"Believe It or Not" - The teams are given a statistic and try to guess if it is true or false.
“And the Winner Is..." - The teams are given a question from a poll and then they try to guess what came on top of that poll.
"The Poll with a Hole" - each team is given a statistic but it is missing one piece of salient information. The teams have to guess what that piece of information is missing.

Jimmy Carr became the subject of one of the shows when he was found to be investing his income into a tax relief fund known as a K2 scheme. British Prime Minister David Cameron commented: "People work hard, they pay their taxes, they save up to go to one of his shows. He is taking the money from those tickets and he, as far as I can see, is putting all of that into some very dodgy tax avoiding schemes.”
Surprisingly Jimmy Carr has managed keep his job on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown on Channel 4 despite some loss to his popularity.
