1001 Things You Should Know is a general knowledge quiz show on Channel 4 that is hosted by Sandi Tosviq and airs on daytime TV. The format of the show features three contestants who choose from 12 categories of question topic. These include Music, Art, Food and Drink, History, Science, Nature, Maths and Politics. The Mystery category can be about anything and is a lucky dip or wildcard style category. Sandi Tosviq oversees the proceedings with her usual wit and humour.
An interesting feature of the show is that the questions for each category are asked by experts in their field or can include celebrity guest. For example, John McCririck the well-known horseracing pundit sometimes features as a sports expert, and Lord Bath sometimes appears on the show to provide interesting facts and ask questions on Art.
The contestants on 1001 Things You Should Know, win cash for correct answers with the money then added to a cash pot. If nobody wins by the end of the programme, the cash is rolled over to the next show and the winning contestant comes back and plays against new opponents.
1001 Things You Should Know first aired on Channel 4 in late 2012 and this entertaining 30 minutes show looks set to become a permanent fixture of the daytime Channel 4 output.
